Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father left her family, she was grew up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder based on the word association when she was a teenager. Ford's interest in acting began in her early years. Ford joined at the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after a short period of weeks, she realized the school was not suitable for her. Ford decided to apply instead to the Central School of Speech and Drama and eventually secured the position she wanted on her third attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. The actor was later to play frequent roles on the show as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford was graduated in 1993, but at the time, she had already made her television debut in the 1991 season of Surgical Spirit; she adopted her professional title "Catherine Tate". Tate appeared on TV in the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Tate also regularly worked in theatre and eventually joined the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season of 2000-2001. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedies that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
